About this course:
Delivered by the MYA RAISE Team, the ROAR Response to Mental Health in Secondary Schools will equip delegates with the knowledge, tools, and confidence to respond as a first line of response to mental distress in young people, as well as some useful resources that delegates can use. ROAR Response to mental health for children and young people with additional needs is a course for Liverpool school mental health leads, or any other school professional wanting to increase skills and understanding. The course assumes you have completed either ROAR Primary, or ROAR Secondary (or alternative).
Children with additional needs are highly more likely to suffer from mental health problems: the training course explores the reasons this, along with providing ways to overcome some of these barriers and so we build resilience in children and young people.
ROAR SEND covers modules such as:
- Labels and Language
- Anxiety
- Sensory Processing
- Hidden Risk Factors to Depression
- Working with Parents
- Signposting and support services that are available across the Liverpool Mental Health Support Offer
Each delegate will be given a comprehensive ROAR Manual containing resources they can use when working with young people.
Time length: full-day, 9.30am-4pm.
Delivery method: face-to-face at Merseyside Youth Association HQ.
