What is the course all about?
ROAR Response to Staff Wellbeinge recognises the demands placed on education staff, the growing demand of the role itself, and the increasing need to support mental health children and young people. However, it also recognises the lack of support there is for education staff themselves. We know so many schools do great work around staff wellbeing, and this course is all about strengthening that offer and embracing a culture shift, in whereby schools recognise the importance of structured supervision within the education sector. We want to work with education settings to support their staff to feel valued by having protected time to talk in supervisions, explore the demands of their role, share good practice, and reflect on the impact of the role on their own wellbeing.

100% of those that attended the training said it enhanced their knowledge of supervision, 100% rated each module 5/5 and all said they would recommend it to a colleague.
The ROAR Response to Staff Wellbeing and Supervision in Education is all about better supporting our staff members who work within the education setting. Supervision is a term that is commonly associated with a clinical or health and social care setting.
However, the wellbeing of teachers and education staff needs to be a priority now more than ever, with research showing that 70% of staff within education stated that their job had adversely affected their mental health within the last 12 months, and 67% of staff considered leaving the profession altogether.
This course will equip delegates with an introduction to supervision in education, giving them the knowledge and reflective tools around supervision to enable them to feel more confident in taking the learning back to their school to start to look at how they can embed a supervision model in their setting. It is up to your school which staff you’d like to attend this course, but we recommend some members of SLT attend this course to make the culture shift needed within the school to offer in-house supervision. Each delegate will be provided with a ROAR resource and reflection manual to embed supervision within the school.
