ROAR Bite-size (ALPSIT). 9th July, 11am – 12pm. Via Zoom

Date/Time

09/07/2020 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

The ROAR Response is an evidence-based resilience-focused mental health response model, created specifically for primary schools to support the whole school in developing and supporting children’s mental health. It aims to equip the staff member with signs and symptoms of a child experiencing mental distress and will also gain more insight into ways they can respond and build resilience for the school. ROAR also acknowledges the impact of ACE on children’s lives and provides tools which can support building resilience.

This adapted version of our original ROAR program will be delivered in shorter sessions online to raise awareness of mental health, to explore the impact on mental distress on thoughts, feelings and behaviours; to help spot signs and symptoms in ourselves, children and young people, to understand what we mean by resilience and how it can impact on our mental well-being.

The course will cover an introduction to the following:

● Children’s mental health and an introduction to the ROAR response.

● Specific areas of concern such as anxiety, low mood/depression, behaviour as communication and parental mental distress.

● Access to whole-staff CPD and parent sessions for you to deliver in your school.

● A selection of lesson plans and resilience-based resources.

*This session will be delivered using Zoom. Once you have been accepted onto the course you will receive details of the Zoom call via email.*
